Insurance Coverage
At UD Car Rent, all published rates include motor insurance for third-party liability and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). If an accident or damage occurs, the renter's responsibility for covered accidental damage to the rental vehicle is limited by the applicable CDW liability cap.
Third-Party Motor Insurance Coverage
Our rental vehicles include commercial-use motor insurance with the following coverage limits:
Coverage is subject to the insurer's policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.
CDW (Included)
Collision Damage Waiver limits the renter's financial responsibility for covered accidental damage to the rental vehicle.
- Sedans: up to 10,000 THB maximum damage liability per covered incident
- Double-cab pickups, SUVs & 7-seaters: up to 15,000 THB maximum damage liability per covered incident
SCDW (Optional)
Optional SCDW reduces liability for covered accidental damage to 0 THB, subject to the rental terms and exclusions.
- Sedans: 250 THB/day
- SUVs / Pickups / 7-seaters: 350 THB/day
What CDW/SCDW Cover (Summary)
- Covered accidental damage to the rental vehicle
- Third-party bodily injury and property damage are covered under the motor insurance policy, subject to policy terms and limits
- Towing after an incident, where applicable, is subject to the insurance policy and rental terms
Important Notes
- CDW/SCDW do not cover prohibited uses such as drunk driving, reckless/off-road use, unauthorized drivers or racing.
- Glass/tyres, underbody, interior damage, accessories, cleaning charges and personal items may be excluded or subject to conditions.
- Motor insurance follows the insurer's policy terms, limits and exclusions. CDW/SCDW follow UD Car Rent's rental terms and exclusions.
How the Excess / CDW Liability Works
If the assessed covered damage is below the CDW maximum, the renter pays the lower applicable amount.
Covered accidental damage to a sedan is assessed at 30,000 THB.
Maximum renter liability under included CDW: 10,000 THB.
UD Car Rent is responsible for the remaining covered repair cost. With applicable SCDW, renter liability for covered accidental damage is 0 THB.
Examples of Damage Liability
Actual renter liability depends on the assessed damage, applicable CDW/SCDW and the rental terms.
Minor Damage
If covered damage is assessed below the applicable CDW maximum, the renter pays the actual applicable damage amount.
Assessed covered damage: 3,000 THB
Renter liability under CDW: 3,000 THB
Large-Scale Damage
If covered damage exceeds the applicable CDW maximum, renter liability is capped according to the vehicle category.
Assessed covered damage: 30,000 THB
Maximum renter liability under CDW: 10,000 THB
After an Incident
- Stop when safe and switch on hazard lights.
- Contact UD Car Rent immediately and follow instructions.
- Do not move the vehicle unless instructed, except where necessary for safety.
- Obtain police and/or insurer reference details where applicable.
